Some of my Videos
These are mostly links to YouTube videos I've been featured in.
These videos were recorded by Brian Stushnoff at the November 4,
2016 Creston Music Teachers Association “Tapestry” concert.
“Misty”, the classic tune, written by Erroll Garner, is one of my
favorites. Accompaniment by Monte Anderson.
The second song in my set was “Bluesette”. Written by Toots
Thieiermans, this is a fun song to play.
In the next two songs I did backup for our vocalist Rhonda
MacLellan. I think they turned out pretty good!
Theme from Mahogany.
Over the Rainbow / What a Wonderful World.
These videos were recorded by Brian Stushnoff at the October 14,
2014 Creston Music Teachers Association “Tapestry” concert.
With the help of accompanist Kalen Huscroft, this is a medley of
the songs “Lament” and “Estrellita”. We call the piece Lament for
a Little Star.
To prove to myself that I really play a fast song on the EWI, we
did a very upbeat version of If I Only Had A Brain. To take
the audience's brains off my mistakes, we wore funny hats to
distract them.
In the next three songs I did backup for our vocalist Rhonda
Barter. I think they turned out pretty good!
These are recording made by Brian Stushnoff at the October 4 and 6, 2014 Creston Music Teachers Association “Tapestry” concert. I couldn't ask for a better accompanist in Kalen Huscroft!
Over the Rainbow is a lovely old favorite sung by my friend Rhonda Barter. I just did some backups for her.
On Wings is a song I wrote a few years ago after seeing an Osprey over Duck Lake. I'm playing a Soprano Saxophone.
I'm falling in love with the Choro style of music. Here is my version of Carinohso written by the great Pixinguinha.
Got the Akai EWI out for this rendition of Billy Strayhorn's Chelsea Bridge It was a lot of fun (and hard) to play.
An old time favorite! On The Sunny Side of the Street was made a bit more exciting by the “unexpected” entrance of Monty Anderson.
The fine print: These recordings are copyright Bob van der Poel. You are welcome to listen to them and share them with your friends. But, I do retain ownership ... so, no, you can't sell them.
