Put It Together

Volume changes are pretty easy to use. Just play a section louder or softer. Play a single note loud, etc.

Ahh, but which notes? Again, it's up to you (yeah, I know that doesn't really help). But for drama try to play a passage which should be soft, loud. Or emphasize the “wrong” note. In this rendition of our now famous song we've put some accents in unexpected places.

This kind of improv is not going to get you invited to play at the Cotton Club. But, combine it with the other techniques in this series and you'll add some nice variety to your songs.
